Is there any UI mod or tip for spotting DOTs being applied to your team so you can cleanse them fast?

Currently I find it quite hard since I am glancing at the health bars on the team, kinda watching their active effects but its super hard to watch for the correct icons on someone who could be cleansed instead of healing through their damage.

is there a way to remove friendly buffs perhaps so I can filter to see only hostile ones? Would make it super easy to spot someone i can cleanse then.

Well, SW:TOR doesn't allow addons, so you'll just have to make a gamble, and try to look at the tiny icons, maybe they hid some feature for it away in preferences somewhere? No idea.
